Utilities

UK Utility companies face significant challenges on almost every front. Many are dealing with aging infrastructure which needs very significant capital investment whilst also facing increasingly stringent and shifting environmental targets within a strong regulatory framework at both national and European level. Meanwhile customers are becoming increasingly vocal about areas such as price increases and sources of supply. Recent operational failings in nuclear power stations in Japan has only served to heighten and intensify the debate around our energy needs and the financial and environmental consequences for us all.

The European Commission has presented a new energy strategy for the next ten years, highlighting the need to improve energy efficiency, integrate the region's markets and boost technological leadership. It has called for investments of €1 trillion to integrate Europe's energy networks.

Against this backdrop utility companies need to tightly manage their infrastructure, environmental and customer service programmes in order to be able to respond quickly and efficiently to a demanding cocktail of political, regulatory and customer priorities.

Project One understands the unique challenges that UK utility companies face and has particular expertise in managing complex change, for example:

  • managing delivery of customer service initiatives
  • managing a price review though the draft and final submissions to Ofwat
  • enhancing performance of key business areas, bringing clarity and structure to the approach
  • facilitating resolution of urgent and critical regulatory and environmental issues
  • leading a portfolio of initiatives to improve the robustness of IT services
  • transforming IT services including outsourcing arrangements

In all these examples, our role was to bring clarity, structure, pace and, by working alongside our clients' teams, drive delivery through to results.

“If we want a safe pair of hands that we know is going to deliver, that's when we go to Project One.”
