Implementing Faster Payments

The Faster Payments Service requires retail banks to implement near real time solutions for payments processing as a collaborative industry wide service. For our client, this meant complex change across the breadth of their banking operations and working closely with the other banks to manage the industry wide development and implement the new service.

Our challenge was to lead this challenging programme from start to finish on behalf of our client.

Our impact:

  • Led the programme, focused on key decision points and delivery of complex change in a shifting environment, with strong emphasis on the management of risks 
  • Developed the approach for the end to end business design using techniques from our Knowledge Base and worked with the business to develop the designs, with a design authority to act as a focal point
  • Developed the approach for implementing faster payments across the business operations and worked with the business areas to ensure they were ready to run the service
  • Collaborated with the 12 other scheme members in the industry forum and influenced the scheme transition arrangements
  • Undertook specific pieces of work where the client was unsure how to progress or where deadlines loomed

The business result:

  • Successfully delivered the Faster Payments Service on time
  • The client became an active and valued part of the Industry Transition Group
